Happy New Year!


Okay, so I may be rushing the announcement of the new year, but really, I think 2020 has been a year most of us would like to forget or at least move forward. However, I don’t want to ignore the holiday season. Happy Hanukkah or Kwanza depending on what you celebrate. Merry Christmas to all, which is what we celebrate. Because Christmas is close to my heart, naturally my thoughts went to red and green quilts, which I’ve featured in the blog! Baltimore Album Quilts Were Pre-Cuts!


There have been some interesting comments and discussions about the Triplett Sisters Friendship Quilt as a pre-cut fusible. Since the Poos Collection and our business is known for antique quilts and teaching workshops of historic methods, it was a surprise to some. Many comments have been simply expressing puzzlement, but some of the comments have been more in the disdain or even angry at our betrayal of this wonderful 1856 Huguenot Friendship Quilt. This made me wonder how many people were aware that the beautiful, amazing, and revered Baltimore Album Quilts were available as pre-cuts. Gasp! Yes, it is shocking I know, but those blocks were available for purchase as pre-cut shapes and in some cases pre-basted onto background fabric squares. Be still my heart! BOM is here! Pioneer Quilts Book is almost here! GWP is here!


We’re super excited! For the first time ever, The Triplett Sisters are offering a Block of the Month for a beautiful 19th century friendship quilt in the Poos Collection. The quilt is dated 1856 with names of a Huguenot family from New York. The quilt is a feast of original and unique blocks which are available as a pattern or as a fusible kit.
